How to Talk to Your Soul

We are more powerful than we realize and we have a limitless connection to God within us. The intuition or, the voice of the soul is a powerful way for us to get information about anything we can possibly think of. Learning to become soul conversant is an important part of the spiritual journey. Trust is the key that allows you to open the door to that deeper inner dialog. We over think the process, or feel silly doing it, so we often give up right before we are able to gain access to our deeper aspects. I know I say it a lot, but the journal really is the most powerful tool our spiritual tool box. The journal is an altar to the soul. It is a place where we can reflect, come into presence, and align with the deeper awareness within us. The journal is also a place of quite. The moment we open to a blank page, it feels as if the world begins to slow a bit. We can step into silence within those pages, and each blank page is an affirmation of possibility.

If you don’t want to commit to a journal right away, get some paper a pen, but if possible do not do this on your computer. You want to make the act of opening to your soul current as tangible as possible. Our computers are filled with distractions, and there is an electromagnetic field that in some ways inhibits the flow of information from your higher sense perception.  It is also nice to just step away from technology for a bit. The process of longhand writing allows you to be fully involved in the connection to the information that is flowing from the soul, through the hand-, and onto the paper.

Find a quite place in your home, outside, or some place that allows you a bit of peace. I love going outside to do my intuitive tune ins. Being outside allows the crown chakra to fully expand and nature really supports the process of soul connection.

Begin by writing down your questions. They can truly be any question you want.  What’s troubling your mind? What do you need guidance on? You can also just remain open and receptive to any messages your soul has for you at the time you sit to write.  Sometimes the answers will come quickly, and other times the questions might take some time to come through. Even the silence is a response from out soul. In a world where life and information are happening at break neck speed, sometimes silence is the most needed of all medicines. Write down any images you see in your mind’s eye, emotions that are felt as you ask your questions, any information that is coming through. Do your best not to filter it. Just let it flow. Once you capture the information you can always go back and take a more objective look at it.

To illustrate this process a bit. I am going to share a couple of questions I posed to my soul, and the responses I received from my intuition.

How can I best change my diet at this time to support optimum health and well-being?

Beloved. Trust that we are with you. You must at this time hold steady in your food choices. You must align your intent with the foods that you are feeding your body. When you eat out of anger or fear, that is the energy that you are putting into your body. At this time, it is necessary for you to eliminate things from your diet that do not fully nourish you. You must pay attention to labels. At this time it is advised that you eliminate sugars, processed foods, caffeine, and move towards drinking more water through the day.  We are also encouraging you to fast. Fasting is not something that just happens in the area of food, but is something that will need to extend into the other areas of your life. We will transmit appropriate guidance for you in the next couple of days.

What can I do to deepen my connection to my spiritual path?

Beloved. You must trust that you are exactly where you are supposed to be at this time. The spiritual path begins with presence, and though presence you are able to stand in power. Take time to come into awareness of any fears that you are holding onto. What resistances are you holding in moving deeper onto the spiritual path? Once you bring your awareness to the anchors that are keeping you moored to old ideas of what the spiritual journey is, you will be able to flow with the current of your path more freely. Daily self-examination through self readings, journal reflection and body movement in the form of yoga will help keep you grounded in the discovery of who you are within the spiritual dynamics of your life.

(Here I could also ask my soul to help me identify the resistance and the source of any blockages)

Are there any messages you’d like to share with me at this time?

Beloved… trust. Know that you are loved. Know that you are not alone on the path. At times it might feel that way, but we are with you. We have never abandoned you, and we never will. Know always that you are embraced in the energy of God.

So, this is just a mini example, and questions that i asked of my soul a bit earlier today.  There are times when the answers I get are profound and deep, and there are other times when I just may receive one word that opens me up to deeper reflection and contemplation. Remember, this is a dialog that you are having. You soul is your best friend. It has been with the body since the moment you were birthed into this reality. It wants the best for you. Take time each day to have a chat with your soul.

The Gay Soul: Starting the Journey to Healing

gay flagOver the past few weeks, my soul has been guiding me to direct energy and time to addressing many of the wounds in our community.  After meditating on this, I thought it would be great to begin a series of blog posts to address what I feel are topics that need attention in our community.  My soul has been nudging me, and here we begin the journey.  I thought I’d take a bit of time to address what this journey is going to look like, and some of the topics that I’ll be giving attention to.

There are deep wounds in our community.  Some of them are more overt, and many of them are subtle.  I hope that these posts will create dialog, and community conversation.  I am going to be addressing this a bit differently than I’ve seen in other blogs, books, and media.  Most of what I will be addressing will be channeled directly from my higher self.  I will post questions, and allow for the transmission of that information to be captured in the responses in these posts.  That being said, if you feel there are questions you’d like me to address in this blog, feel free to email them to me directly at Michael@michaelbrazell.com.

As a community we are making many changes, and those changes are happening at lightening speed.  Equality is at the forefront of many of our conversations and this is a beautiful thing.  As we move forward, we need to take a moment to address the deeper healing that is needed within ourselves and in our community at large.  We cannot let our move to gain acceptance cause us to lose that beautiful thing that makes us different.  Much of what I will address in these blog posts will pertain to men who love men.  I can only speak with honesty to the issues that I face as a gay man and the way that impacts my spiritual journey and vice versa.  This is not to minimize the fact that healing is needed in the other areas of LGBTQ culture, it is my hope that this series inspires others to also begin looking at their spiritual walks, and how those walks feed their spirituality as individuals and community.

I also intend to offer resources, and practical spiritual methods to address the various issues we come face to face with as men who love men.  Too often we get caught up in talking about our traumas, vices, and wounds without action steps to generate healing.  I am also going to offer book reviews, and resource lists to help move the conversation forward.

Some of the issues that I’ll be addressing in the coming weeks in relation to men who love men and our community:

  • shame
  • vulnerability
  • sex
  • homophobia
  • masculine and feminine polarities
  • community wounds and traumas
  • individual wounds and traumas
  • leadership
  • love

These are just a few topics, and my soul has been clear on the necessity of getting this information out.  I am also going to be starting an online discussion group to facilitate community dialog regarding the topics I’ll be addressing.  If you’d like to join the group, feel free to send me a message via facebook: www.facebook.com/soulintuitive

Weekly Soul Update: 10/6/2014

The world is still turning, and life is still moving.

One of the struggles may of us face as healers is wondering what we can do when the world is in crisis.  The following are some tips that you can use to engage the energy through proactive means:

  • Pray.  Centering on receptive prayer allows us to connect to our soul, to God, to the divine.  We sometimes forget this simple, yet ancient practice of connecting to a higher power.
  • Meditate.  Sit, find silence, and be at peace.  When we are at peace and in presence as individuals we begin to radiate that to the world around us.
  • Stay informed. Many of us might want to turn off the news, but being and informed healer allows you to direct your energy to those in need in a specific way.  Those suffering from illness, from the impact of war, and from the isolation these divides cause need your energy.
  • Activate healing modalities.  Send light, send Reiki, use your skills to send healing to locations, people, and events in the world.  You are NOT helpless.

These are just a few ways that you can engage the world around you, there are countless ways to step into personal power and to effect change.  Take small moments each day to tune into your intuition, to ask what you can to do change the world… then do it!

Updates:

The Power of Structure

I love fluidity in my spiritual work, but I’ve noticed that I have been a little too loosey goosey with things as of late.  I’ve seen this in a lot of friends and clients as well.  In the past few weeks I’ve had a lot of time to self-reflect.  I’ve been able to dive a bit deeper into my personal experience to see what I need to do to get myself back on track, to go deeper.  When there is structure, there is foundation.  Today, I sat with my intuition.  It told me that I need to be a bit more structured in how I approach my personal spiritual work.  I have a military background, so structure and discipline are nothing new to me, but it can be a bit tough to step back into those waters, but I feel that it is necessary.

Today is a good day for building a new foundation.  The sky is a bit overcast, and the temperatures are starting to cool.  Sitting outside in nature allows me to see how everything is just moving at a beautiful rhythm and pace, it has a structure… not one that limits, but one that allows for the deepest expression.  Over the past few weeks I’ve seen myself slowing purging from my life the things that are no longer serving my highest intent and purpose. Friendships have changed, evolved or fallen away.  What I choose to give my attention to has also changed.  I do feel the deep call of distraction from time to time.  Too often we feed our distractions, because to feed our points of power means that we have to change completely.  Now that I am aware of those distractions I’ve started the process of removing them.  I’ve deleted unnecessary apps from my phone, am limiting my time on social media, and am doing a deeply structured fast this week.

Structure shouldn’t be looked at as punishment, but if we are just floating through our experience and not engaging a deeper sense of purpose, we need to take a look at that.  Everything has intention behind it.  Even when we choose to step out of our light, that carries intention, and that ripples through all of creation.  For me, structure allows me to be more powerful, it allows me to be fluid with purpose.  It also helps to eliminate fear.

Starting this week, I am making even more changes with how I work with spirit, but also in some of the direction I take with engaging the world and my soul community at large.  I’ve seen other amazing people stand deep in their truth, bringing new perspectives to light, and opening their inner awareness.. these individuals have inspired me to no longer hold back.  For a long time I’ve preferred not to rock the boat, but sometimes you have to rock it to clean off the barnacles.  Having structure also allows us to be okay with whatever happens when we take those steps onto a new phase of our journey.  The things I’m going to be bringing forward are going to be new for me to talk about, but are things that I and my Soul feel are important to start sharing.

What would having more structure look like to you?  Where do you need more structure in your spiritual life?  What can you do right now to move towards deeper connection and commitment?

You are Loved.  You are Beautiful.  You are Divine.

Breathing in… Breathing out

deep-breathI‘ve been sitting in front of a blank screen trying to decide what to write.  Life has been interesting the past few weeks.  It seems that “loss” is theme that I’ve had to deal with.  Don’t get me wrong, nothing too tragic has happened, but the small losses remind us of the bigger ones we have faced in life, and remind us of life’s ever-changing landscape.  I’m also noticing that we are all more reactive than usual.  There are a lot of unusual astrological events occurring that are making us a bit wonky, but since I’m not an astrologer I’m not going to be going too deeply into those.   The world is also moving from crisis to crisis, and we are all trying to hold onto a bit of sanity.

I’m finding myself going a bit more inward, and am hearing my intuition telling me that things are going to balance out soon.  I’m finding that in order to move forward with clarity, that I’m having to let go a bit more… and not a superficial letting go, but letting go from the core… deeply releasing elements of my past so that I can stand present in my presence.  My journal has become my sidekick, tho even at times I resist visiting it.  When we go through lots of rapid change it challenges our identity.  We come a bit unglued.  We see whats really beneath the surface, and this gives us an opportunity to ask ourselves the tougher questions.. “who am I”..  “what is my calling”.. and “where am I going”

I believe that God in its infinite wisdom knows that if we are shown the final destination on the map, that we would run away screaming as if tho we were just lit on fire.  So, we get small snippets of grace.  We move into and out of alignment so that we can learn a little more about ourselves, about the universe and about the people in our lives.  Over the past few weeks I’ve learned a lot about myself and what I want to create with my path.  My life is in a state of evolution, and that means that more changes are on the horizon in regards to my work, what I will be offering the world, and what I will be doing.  I feel that I need more authenticity in my personal walk with God, and I feel that as this opening continues to happen that it will be for the best.  When we are called to service, we are called to respond from the very core of our being.  It requires brutal honestly, and deep vulnerability.  I think that too often we are afraid to step onto our paths for fear of what we will lose by taking those first timid steps… and the answer is: everything.

Each breath is an invitation for us to join life, to step a little more deeply onto the path in front of us.  We don’t have to know where we are going, but we do need to show up.  Showing up allows us to begin.  What keeps you from showing up?

I’m going to be more personal on this blog.  I am also going to be dong a lot more teaching centered work.  My goal is to empower others to stand in grace, to claim their power, and to create community.

Stay tuned for the changes.  🙂   I appreciate each and every person that reads and follows this blog.

You are Loved.  You are Beautiful. You are Divine.

Technology… The Good, The Bad, and What do we do when it Disappears

So, I’ve been combing through a bunch of my old blogs…  many are no longer active, but there are still some nuggets and gems.  One of the things I’ve found myself doing is going back and looking at my spiritual foundations.  I’ll be re-posting some of the nuggets here.  🙂

(This is a payphone, in case you’ve forgotten what they look like)

We live in a time where at the blink of an eye we can communicate with everyone we’ve ever met. With the click of one button, the world can know where I am, what I am doing, and what all of my likes and dislikes are. The big question is: how much of ourselves are we going to give away to the technological world. With every application in the world available at a tap, we get further away from connecting to one another. I can remember a time where people actually walked up to one another and said “Hi, my name is….”, now the first question is: “Do you have Facebookmyspace or twitter?”

We have become so reliant on these little gadgets and devices. I noticed a funny icon on my phone the other day. It asked me if it wasOK that Google collected information on my searches, location, etc so that it could provide better quality as far as searches. Google (and many cell phone providers) have been known to collect and build profiles on users–and more along the Big Brother lines than helping me find the best vegan pizza joint in town. We really have to be careful where we give away our information, we have to use our intuition to decide if it is necessary to venture down these techno highways. They are great for the service they provide… but, does anyone remember how to use a map or even know what an Atlas is? GPS has stolen away the necessity to learn how to read basic maps, we can even have our books read to us by our IPODsthere are programs that slow brainwaves down for meditation, there are neat applications that just suck us right into a world of dependence.

Last night it seems that TMOBILE also crashed. I can still remember how angry I was getting that I could not check my email, send a text, or make a call. I also then realized how attached I was to this phone. It was a wake call… pun intended.

What do we do if all this technology disappears tomorrow? Do you know the actual phone number of the 3 top people you call the most? With a click of a button, a call is made. If I had to walk up to a payphone, I am sure that my speed dial or top 5 will not be programmed in (pay phone? What in the world is that?).

Take time each day to put away the techno-toys. Detach completely. Go a day without using them, detach from email. Send a letter (pen and paper) to a friend. Go a day without texting. Write down all the important numbers in your phone. Ask yourself “If there were no way of using electronic means of communication, what would I do?” This is an extremely valid question, and its another insight that popped up during the TMOBILE outage. I’ve been fortunate to have been introduced to a telepathy technique which is very effective. We have to look outside of ourselves and the techno boxes we’ve put ourselves into.

Much love to you all,

Mike Brazell

The Cleanse: Hitting the Spiritual Reset Button

istock_000013005656xsmallI want to start off this post by saying that the cleanse I am posting here is my journey.  Some of you may like it, others may not.  I only share it because we can all learn from each others trip along the soul highway.   I often find myself called to do a cleanse when I feel it is time to do a reset.  My spirituality is my life, my profession, and my passion.  Having come through a big transition, I feel that I am still carrying some old resistance, habits, and patterns.  Doing deep, and honest self inquiry allows us to go into a cleanse with clear intention.  I am also feeling that things are shifting for me spiritually.  I am starting to work deeper in the intuitive space, communing with my guides, my angels, and higher vibration beings.  When engaging these higher energies, I find it of value to detox and purify the body as much as possible.  It is also important to have a plan of action in place for going into your cleanse.  This helps keep you focused and aligned with your intention.  I am hoping to do a daily video post for this as well, and you can check out my YouTube page here.  If I do the videos I’ll also try to post them here as well.

So, for this cleanse and detox I am starting with 10 days.  I am starting with a 3 day master cleanse and then going into 7 days of water only.  Each water day is going to be dedicated to a particular chakra.  I bought 7 jugs of distilled water.  On each of the jugs I am going to draw the sacred symbols associated with each chakra, and will charge the water by chanting/toning the chakra sounds into the water.  I also have some wonderful chakra incense that I’ll be using for my morning meditations.  This cleanse is a bit more intensive than other things I have done in theChakras-in-Lotus past, but I feel that this is what I need to do right now to clear out some stagnation.  I am also structuring my reading time, online time, and yoga practice to support this adventure.  I’ll end the 10 days by doing 3 days of green/raw protein shakes, and I’ll allow my intuition to tell me what comes after that.  I am cutting gluten, sugar, soy, and processed foods out of my diet moving forward.  I have been receiving a lot of clear messages from my guides to start doing this, so I am.

When stepping off the ledge and into something like a cleanse, or detox be sure that you allow yourself time to prepare to go into it, but also be kind and gentle with yourself as you exit the cycle.  The most important part of a cleanse is your journal.  What emotions are coming up?  What body reactions are you having to the cleanse?  Write down your weight at the start, and track it throughout to be sure you are not losing too quickly.  What are your dreams telling you during this time?  I find that a cleanse usually brings up much more than our dependence on certain foods and additives.  Remember also, that cleanses and detoxes do not need to be food centered.  Taking a break from the computer, TV, the bar scene, clubs, or even pulling away from certain people might be a good thing.

For me, this is also a chance to reset parts of my life.  To come back to center, to bring my power home.  I do lots of energy work, self-healing, self-reflection, readings on myself, and this allows me to also be of service to my clients, friends, and soul family.  It also allows me to work more closely with this new and wonderful energy that is coming in.  I’ve had a lot of resistance stepping more deeply onto my path, and this process helps to clear away some of that muck.  I am also going to be working on cleansing and balancing the energies in my physical space.  Lots of work ahead, and lots of great things that I’ll be sharing here in the next few days.

What in you is calling you forward?  What in you needs to be cleansed right now?  Are you able to pause now for a moment, and bring awareness to that area of your being?

You are Loved.  You are Beautiful.  You are Divine.

Beautiful Disasters and Learning to Trust

Woke up with some thought this morning, reflections from some dreams that I’ve been having… so, this may come off a bit tangential, but that’s just me.  When I write here, I often just let my fingers walk the keyboard, take what feels good… let every thing else rest on the shelf:

Sometimes life is a series of beautiful disasters.  It changes quickly, and in the process it changes us.  We adapt, or we try to.  We get to put our spiritual tools to the test, and we question the fabric of our reality.  We often start asking the “why” questions.  Why me?  Why now?  etc..  Sometimes the answers are not as simple as we’d like them to be, and sometimes they are so simple, that we miss the subtle nudges.  Trust is not an easy thing to engage.  It requires a level of surrender that many of us fear.  A letting go, a deep release from the inside out.  God FNNGWIIGYTY1GRZ.MEDIUMsometimes has a way of stepping in and challenging our reality.  Illness, upheaval, poverty, loss, are some of what I call “the sandpaper experiences”.  I often see us as a piece of word in the hand of God, slowing being sanded and shaped into something beautiful, but often we don’t see what is coming, or perhaps we aren’t allowed to see.  I tell my clients that if I was told by my intuition that I’d be sitting here, face covered in tattoos, teaching spirituality for a living, that I’d tell it NO WAY… but, here I am.

The past few months for me have been sandpaper moments.  When I was in DC I had the deep challenge of trust.  People, places and things no longer held the stability that they once had.  The “safety” in my current reality was challenged, and I had to start letting it all go.  In the fall, we still try to cling to the old masks, the old people, and places even if they are no longer serving our highest intent and good.  We try to fit the square pegs into the triangle holes.  I am seeing a lot of us go through these moments.  The beautiful shattering of these experiences.  We get to see how much power we are holding in these moments, and how much we have given away.  We have to take responsibility for that power, and start to bring it back to us.  As time moves forward, I’ll discuss dealing with specific challenges many of us face when dealing with trust: relationships, work, family, life itself, and spirituality.

explosionWhen I was preparing to leave DC, there were moments when I felt angry.  Anger is an emotion that is like fire, it can burn through things quickly.  I was angry at everything, but did not have a place to direct my anger.  It was just an emotion that needed to be acknowledged.  We often try to suppress these emotions, but they are a natural part of the grieving process (if you are going through heavy change, I recommend looking up the stages of grief, it will help you identify and accept where you are as you go through the stages).  As the fire of anger started burning in my heart center, I felt a peace wash over me.  My intuition activated and asked,” Beloved, what are you angry at?”… I don’t know… “Beloved, there is not place to put this emotions.  The people and events that are falling away are to be held in compassion, if you must place this anger somewhere, place in on me.”  The peace that had begun to wash through me started to flood into the deepest parts of that moment.  I view intuition as the voice of God speaking through my soul.  In essence God was telling me, that if you must be angry, be angry at me… it’s okay, I can take it… but please hold compassion for those that you feel deserve your anger, because they don’t… the situation is what it is, just love it… and trust me.

In that moment peace was followed by a deep trust.  It did not mean that I was not going to feel the emotions, the pain, the tearing… but now it also made a little room for the joy, the peace, and the compassion I needed to move forward.  For an instant, I released control and let the divine drive the car, and things began to move quickly.  When the world around us shifts at a rate of speed that does not allow us to “cling”, it challenges trust on multiple levels, we have to be kind to ourselves in this process.  Journaling and yoga have been lifesavers.  They allow me the space to dialog not only what was happening in my mental space, but yoga also allowed me to move the physical energy that had stagnated i my body.  The pain is all part of the greater process of becoming who we truly are.  Sometimes these moments come in slowly, sometimes they are larger explosions, but through all of it I find there is a deep thread of connection to something beyond us.  Something that is guiding us gently through the many beautiful disasters we might face.

What is trust to you?  What do you do when you feel trust being challenged?  Do you find solace in your spirituality?   What happens when your spiritual process are also challenged?

You are Loved.  You are Beautiful.  You are Divine.

108 Day Challenge

I finally made it down to South Carolina.

New starts, new changes, and coming into new alignments can always bring struggle.  One of the things that I like to do when I get to a new area is a cleanse and detox.  Upheaval can bring a lot of stress thorough our entire system.  For me, cleansing the body, mind and spirit helps to harmonize me into my new experience.   Since this time I am also in a process of building a new life, I thought I would take this cleanse a bit deeper and also offer myself some challenges.  The challenges help to re-align my system, and well… keeps things from getting stagnant.  Getting into a new routine is always a good thing when leaving an old one.

I’ll post the details here, and will do a daily post as I move through the cleanse.   This is my personal challenge, but if you are finding yourself in a rut, why not do something to help move you deeper into your experience.  Before I start a cleanse, detox or challenge like this

My challenge:

  1. Food and nutritional detox: no sugar, gluten, processed foods
  2. Reading 1-2 books/week.
  3. Writing, writing, writing…. one blog post a day, one poem a day, and daily journaling
  4. Daily mediation and yoga practice
  5. and some other things that I am keeping personal 😉

The challenge should be something that is out of the ordinary for you, it should allow you the opportunity to step into something “new” as far as a routine, or spiritual experience.  Taking you a bit out of the norm, or bringing deeper awareness to something that is more routine.  If you meditate already, challenge yourself to shift it up a bit.  Do something a bit differently.  Breaking up stagnation helps us to keep our practice fresh, and we also get to take a deeper look at ourselves in the process.  The path is about learning to grow through engaging the process, rather than just going through the motions.

Do you have questions on setting up a cleanse, detox, or personal challenge?  Feel free to write them in the comments section below and I’ll answer them.

You are Loved.

You are Beautiful.

You are Divine.

The world has not ended…but everything is changing

imagesWhat a beautifully chaotic time we are living in.  I know that many are struggling at this time.  Struggle is part of the process.  We are entering into a global and personal cleansing.  Life is not meant to be “easy”, but it is meant to be lived… All of it.  The perceived good, the perceived bad.  Everything we move through happens so that we can engage this life experience fully.  We are all experiential beings.  We live in this wonderful 5 sense reality and we are being stimulated with greater frequency.

Right now our stability is being tested.  The ground is not as firm as it use to be, and that is okay.  When we have things taken away from us (jobs, health, money) we are given a chance to move into gratitude.  The same people who use to complain about their jobs prior to the government ‘shutdown’ are now in a different relationship to those jobs.    Another thing that is being offered is the chance to rise above the moment, to tune into your other gifts, and to create a new experience.  Nothing is really as stable as it seems.  As a yoga instructor I know that I am just an injury away from not being able to teach a hardcore yoga class.  I’ve had that tested, and learned to adapt.   We can look at these challenges as opportunities or we can look at them as life pooping on us and sulk away.  I am not saying you shouldn’t feel the emotions that are coming up, just don’t get trapped into the limitation spirals.   Sit with the entirety of the experience.  What is coming up for you emotionally, spiritually, mentally?  What are you resisting?   What needs to be loved in this moment?  What needs to be put on a shelf?

I think too often we as a society get too busy to say a simply thank you to the wonder and mystery of our experience.  We’ve learned to take things for granted, and too often do.  Now is the time to find gratitude for all things big and small.  Find gratitude in your struggle.  It is the sandpaper that is shaping you into something wonderful.

Just remember…..

You are Loved.  You are Beautiful. You are Divine.
